A Note from the Convention Chair

Dear BBIA Member,
First off, I would like to wish all of you a healthy and prosperous New Year. As Convention chairperson for this year’s BBIA event, I’d like to take this time to fill you in on some of the details of this year’s convention. To my disappointment we were unable to secure the Somalia dinner cruise as originally proposed. Something about the pirates not willing to cooperate after last year’s debacle. Instead we had to SETTLE, (meant sarcastically) for The Boulders Resort and Golden Door Spa which is located in Carefree Arizona about 45
minutes from Phoenix, Sky Harbor International airport. Phoenix = Warm weather in May.

Our board meeting was held on site and I assure you this place ranks among, if not surpass, any sites of previous conventions. The minute you pull up it is evident that the staff really “gets it”. They are there to serve you, period.

The property is built among some of the most magnificent Boulders imaginable thus the name Duh!

It is the type of resort that is totally self-contained, no off site necessary. I guarantee you will be entertained during your stay, from the 2 Platinum Medal Golf Courses (ranked among the top ten resorts by Golf Magazine), to the six different restaurants, to the Golden Spa for those wanting extra pampering, this resort has as it all.

I do not want to fail to mention the 3 swimming pools, one open 24 hours, or the Casita Rooms or the Tennis complex. Wow.

Breathe taking views, great golf, tennis and spa. Swimming pools, Jacuzzis, oh yeah – we found the bar, there are a few, and they are very accommodating. Even to those that may occasionally, rumor has it, wish to stay up late for a night cap or 10.

We are planning a slightly different agenda during the business portion and expect some heavy hitters in our industry to speak and answer some pretty direct questions. Jim Dressel executive editor of Bowlers Journal is our Industry Service recipient and I’m willing to bet that will be an entertaining evening.

More details will follow I’m sure. Check it out at www.theboulders.com, take the virtual tour and see for yourself. This is going to be a great opportunity to experience a relaxed working / social environment at a great resort and spa.

Hope to see you all in May,

Phil Cardinale
